Mustard and Paisley

I put this outfit together quickly when my husband came home and told me about a 50th anniversary party we were going to for one of his barbershop group members. I quickly scrambled around in my closet and came up with this....

It was warm out, but I wanted something a little more modest (hence the blazer).

P.S. For those who enjoy pictures of my pups, I took this one a couple days ago...

Nature at it's Best

I decided to take a little blogging hiatus over the last few weeks while starting my new job!!  That's right, I have a job as a outpatient pediatric rehab therapist in Santa Fe!  Just starting my 4th week and loving it.  Also, there is talk of making me full time between pediatric rehab and outpatient adult rehab which is perfect being that my dream was to do outpatient adult rehab or outpatient pediatrics and being able to experience both at the same time is a dream come true!

Enough about my new job, I could go on and on about it all day.  I have recently picked up a new hobby....backpacking.  Yes, not a very glamorous hobby but it combines my love for hiking with my love for camping all rolled in to one experience.  Here are some photos from my recent backpacking trips....

Backpacking trip to Lake Katherine in the Pecos Wilderness.
This was by far the hardest hike I have ever done with or without the large backpack.  The elevation change was brutal, 8 miles of going up, up, up, and then strait up for the last 2 miles.  At least the hike out was all downhill...
Lake located at ~12,000ft elevation under the peak of Santa Fe Baldy.
Me and Chloe at the lake.

 Aspen Grove
Horny Toad!  I have been looking everywhere for these guys, glad to finally find one.

My 2nd backpacking trip was to Spirit Lake also in the Pecos Wilderness.
This hike was about 12 miles round trip and a much more enjoyable trail to hike with 50lbs on the back.  It was a lovely way to spend the weekend!

Me and the hubs...I think he has his eyes closed.

Thanks for dropping by!

Learning to Play

I have spent my free time this summer learning to play mandolin!  My husband (playing stand up bass), a friend (playing fiddle) and I decided to start a bluegrass/old time band and we had our first practice session Wednesday...it sounded pretty good! Our goal is to eventually sound good enough to play a set at our local pub on an off night.

This is not my mandolin, it's a friend's "camping mandolin" that I am borrowing....so it is not exactly the best thing to listen to or play.  Hopefully I can own a decent one soon!

Summer Vacation

It has been difficult to think of style and creating blog posts with the amount of visitors we have had at our house in the past month!

Both my in-laws and my family came to visit within the past 4 weeks.
Here are some photos from our adventures a week ago hiking around Colorado and New Mexico...

We climbed a mountain...
 In Southern Colorado.

 Fed the chipmunks.

Discovered petroglyphs (on a trail near my town)....
...and ancient Native American pottery shards and arrow heads (my middle brother).

Then we climbed another mountain (because climbing one wasn't enough). This time in New Mexico.
Did yoga poses on top of said mountain. (my youngest brother)
 (my mom)

Enjoy!

P.S. Outfit post coming soon!!!

Tribal + Jean Vest

I put this outfit together for karaoke night a few nights ago!

We have been out of town for the majority of June and it is good to be back for the time being.  We've got family visiting and more family on the way in a few days, fun times to be had!

At the Pond

Every Friday night, during the summer months, my town puts on a series of concerts at the pond near the downtown. They are a big event!  Kid's bouncy castles, face painting, and all sorts of food and merchandise vendors.

It is always tricky to figure out what to wear to these events.  It starts out sunny and hot and ends up really cold once the sun starts to set.  This is what I came up with last night for the concert at the pond. I wanted something fun and laid back that would keep me warm when the sun went down and that I could sit in the grass in to watch the concert.

The concert at the pond...
This is before the concert.  Once it starts up, it is PACKED.  We are talkin' a couple thousand people.

Arches

I recently returned from a quick 2 night camping trip in Moab, UT where the Mr. and I went to Arches National Park for some hiking and sightseeing.   This trip was too amazing not to share!!!

Delicate Arch Trail
This is me doing a back bend(wheel pose) under the delicate arch!!
Picture from early morning driving into the park...
  Primitive loop trail....

 "Double O" arch
This is a place I have always wanted to go, and we felt the time was right...especially being that it is now just a half day drive from where we live.

Arches Nationanl Park Trail tip from Kristine:
If you do end up visiting this amazing place, hit the trails EARLY!  By 8:30am the crowds start coming out to the trails and it gets packed.  We started both trails around 6:30am and it was very pleasant, just about had the arches all to ourselves.

Enjoy!
